Ready for sweater weather, Lexington? From pumpkin patches and corn mazes to apple picking and German beer celebrations, fall is where the Horse Capital of the World thrives.

Get ready to come alive — or play dead at a fall-tastic favorite like the Thriller Parade — with this guide featuring 23 fall events happening between now and November.

Keeneland Fall Meet | Friday, Oct. 6-Saturday, Oct. 28 | Times vary | Keeneland, 4201 Versailles Rd. | $7-$150 | It’s not October in Lexington without a trip to our historic racetrack for horses, bourbon, and some bets.

Thriller Parade | Sunday, Oct. 29 | 7-9 p.m. | Main Street | Free | Night creatures will crawl through downtown when the annual Thriller reenactment brings hundreds of dancing zombies back to life.

Last month, we shared how Field & Main Bank is gifting $20,000 to one local nonprofit as part of their newly launched Community & Cause initiative.

Over the past month, 100+ nonprofits registered for the initiative and now, Field & Main Bank is inviting Lexingtonians to get in on the good cause by voting to choose the winner.

Voting opens Monday, Oct. 2, and closes Tuesday, Oct. 31.

  • City council will discuss a modification that would nearly double the funding for the Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention. The amount would go from $750,000 to $1.5 million and help address homelessness-related issues, including emergency sheltering + a timelier response to outreach workers’ findings. (WEKU)

  • $5 million. That’s how much Baptist Health Lexington just received for its mother and baby unit from Kosair for Kids. The donation is largest of its kind for the hospital system, which is home to the second largest Level II NICU in the state. (LEX18)

  • Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter is kicking off his “Who I Am Tour” at the Singletary Center for the Arts next Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. He hopes to take fans on an “intimate journey through his musical career” playing new solo hits + boy band favorites. (UKNOW)

Watch the UK women’s basketball team on TV and around town

As you know, while Memorial Coliseum undergoes its $82 million facelift, UK women’s basketball will be sharing home court space with the men’s basketball team at Rupp Arena.

Due to some overlapping schedules, the Wildcats will also play at neighboring schools, Georgetown College + Transylvania University.

Here’s a quick breakdown to help you plan —

  • Tuesday, Nov. 14 vs. Austin Peay
Transy, Clive M. Beck Center
  • Tuesday, Nov. 7 vs. ETSU
  • Thursday, Nov. 30 vs. Boston College

  • Sunday, Dec. 31 vs. Samford
It was also just announced that the Wildcats have been chosen for 11 nationally-televised games. on SEC Network, ESPN2, and ACC Network.
