Keeneland Fall Meet | Friday, Oct. 6-Saturday, Oct. 28 | Times vary | Keeneland, 4201 Versailles Rd. | $7-$150 | It’s not October in Lexington without a trip to our historic racetrack for horses, bourbon, and some bets.

“Thriller” Parade | Sunday, Oct. 29 | 7-9 p.m. | Main Street | Free | Night creatures will crawl through downtown when the annual “Thriller” reenactment brings hundreds of dancing zombies back to life.

A Cult Classic Halloween | Saturday, Oct. 28 | 8 p.m. | The Burl, 375 Thompson Rd. | $21.60 | Dress as your favorite cult classic movie character and groove to the sounds of Talking Heads cover band, Same As It Ever Was.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show | Saturday, Oct. 28 | 8:30 + 11:59 p.m. | Kentucky Theatre, 214 E. Main St. | $7.32 | See this cult classic and be mindful — some surprise cast members might be sitting right next to you.

PumpkinMania Festival | Sunday, Oct. 29 | 11 a.m.-4 p.m. | Transylvania University, 300 N. Broadway | Free | Head downtown for this family-friendly day to carve your pumpkin for this annual Halloween tradition. The pumpkins will then be on display through Thursday, Nov. 2.

Halloween Festival | Sunday, Oct. 29 | 5-7 p.m. | Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza + Main Street | Free | Things kick off with the Halloween Variety Show, which includes spooky tunes and performances from area dance groups + bands, followed by the Halloween Parade.

Day of the Dead Celebration | Wednesday, Nov. 1 | 5-9 p.m. | Living Arts & Science Center, 362 N. Martin Luther King Blvd. | Free | Get creative and participate in art projects while seeing traditional performances, community-created Ofrendas, then follow the procession to the Old Episcopal Burying Grounds.

Spirit Strolls | Fridays + Saturdays, through Oct. 28 | 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. | Shaker Village, 501 Lexington Rd., Harrodsburg | $10-$15 | This guided walk will take you through the property while hearing spine-chilling journal entries of village dwellers’ past.
