2024 is here and it brings a fresh start and a whole new year of reasons to have Lexington pride.Who knows whatnew restaurants might openandwhat skyline changes we might see, but we know one thing for sure — we want to write about what matters to you, our readers, the most.
That’s why we’re polling the crowd for questions you want answered in 2024 — any piece of Lexington life you’ve always wanted to read into with your morning cup of coffee. Want to know where to get the best breakfast burrito? How about a list of the oldest businesses in our city? Which concerts are coming into town? Stories of local legends?

Fayette County Public Schools announced they will utilize non-traditional instruction (NTI) in the event of severe weather this winter. All students will be sent home with a Chromebook in preparation for a potential NTI weather day to help avoid extending the school year for cancellations. (Lexington Herald-Leader)
Closing
The Social Vegan, located inside Greyline Station, announced that it will be closing until further notice. While no re-opening plans were mentioned, the business did say that this is “not a goodbye.” We’ll keep you posted on the future of this local vegan fan-favorite.
Environment
Live Green Lexington is accepting applications for the next round of businesses looking to receive their Green Check. All local businesses that want to level up their environmental friendliness + sustainability efforts are encouraged to apply by Wednesday, Jan. 31.
Lexingtonian
Former Kentucky Horse Park Executive Director John Nicholson will take over as president of nonprofit retirement horse farm Old Friends. Nicholson will assume the role on Feb. 1 following founder Michael Blowen’s retirement. After 20+ years of leadership, Blowen will continue to be involved as an ambassador. (LEX18)

If you’re considering joining the 48th annual Bluegrass 10000 and Fun Run, now is the time to register for the lowest price. The annual Fourth of July race takes runners throughout downtown + registration is $35 now through Monday, Jan. 15.
Cause
Calling all future brides. Head to Griffin Gate Marriott Golf Resort & Spa on Sunday, Jan. 14 for Renee’s Bridal Gala 2024. The Distillery District boutique hotel has enclosed a portion of its rooftop bar with a cozy greenhouse, where guests are able to soak in those Bluegrass sunsets with some tropical flare.
