🫶 It’s a date

Kids, this is the story of how I met your mother, and it was all thanks to LEXtoday.

Ok, so maybe that’s not exactly how the 2000s sitcom went, but if Ted Mosby had consulted us for date night ideas, we could’ve shaved the show down to two seasons (and saved his kids a lot of time). Regardless, whether you’ve met “the one” or are hoping to impress someone new, we’ve got 19 local date night ideas that are legen — wait for it — dary.

For the ones who want a night out on the town

If you love the great outdoors

  • The ultimate outdoor adventure awaits with a hike at the Red River Gorge + slice of pizza from Miguel’s. If you’re looking for a more lowkey option, you can’t go wrong with a quaint picnic in one of our parks.
  • You’ll be the eagle of your date’s eye when you show off your swing at Lexington’s links.

Be the Broker: Delaware Avenue

A series of photos showing what the quonset hut on Delaware Avenue looks like, plus a map that identifies its exact location.

Have you ever driven past an empty building and thought, “That would make a great __________?”

That’s the question we ask in our Be the Broker series. And guess what? We’re back with another installment. This time, we’re taking a trip to Delaware Avenue where husband-wife duo Will and Sarah Hanrahan have aspirations of expanding the community offerings in the area.

“We’ve been looking for a project that we could sink our teeth into,” Will said. “Now we’re in that phase where we want to build a plan and to get involvement from the community.”

“We’re hoping to bring small pieces of the community and have them all in one place, kinda of like a hub for the community,” Sarah added.

The one-acre plot of land features green space, and more notably, a quonset hut, which the pair thinks could be repurposed into a community or event space.

Football is certainly not my strong suit, but you know what is? R&B from the 1990s and 2000s. So catch me grooving to Usher’s halftime performance on Sunday.
