Whether you’re a sports fanatic — or just look good in blue — when it comes to sports, Lexington has no shortage of teams to support. Our city is home to some of the most loyal fans in the country — they even like to burn couches when we win.

UK basketball (NCAA) | Est. 1902
A sea of blue. Big Blue Nation. There’s a reason they say we bleed blue, and our beloved basketball is a big part of it. The support for the Wildcats stretches far beyond our city, state, and even US borders. We do have a thing for visiting the Bahamas, right?

Lexington Legends (ALPB) | Est. 2001
Central Kentucky’s baseball team has had quite the history in the past few years. The team was was purchased by Nathan and Kerri Lyons in 2022, briefly changing the name to become the Lexington Counter Clocks. The then-owners also completely revamped + upgraded stadium. Fast forward to February of 2024, it was announced the team was purchased by Temerity Baseball and reverted back to its original name and colors, The Legends.
Lexington Sporting Club (USL League One) | Est. 2022
It was announced in the fall of 2021 that Lexington would be receiving its first pro soccer team. After countless community engagement sessions, the Lexington Sporting Club was born.

$4.79 million. That’s how much grant funding will be awarded to 37 social services agencies. The grants will support organizations with a focus on five key areas — Community Wellness & Safety, Childhood & Youth Development, Food Insecurity & Nutritional Access, Mental Health, and Emergency Shelter.

Crave Food + Music Festival (Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28) announced the lineup of artists for this year’s event. Musicians helping to set the vibe on stage include Abby Hamilton, Brother Smith, the Baja Yetis, and more. Discounted pre-sale tickets are now available.
Sports
Wildcat alum + track athlete Alexis Holmes has qualified for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Holmes will represent Team USA in the 400-meter dash. She ran a personal best this weekend, qualifying with a time of 49.78 seconds.

Holly Hill Inn is hosting A Summer Soiree on Friday, July 12 featuring guest chef Newman Miller from Bardstown. Tickets are $106 which include a welcome cocktail, passed hors d’oeuvres, and dinner. Right now there are seatings available for groups of four.
