The Legends are back, baby.

After some not-so-subtle hints over the past month, it’s officially official. The new owners of Lexington Professional Baseball have announced that the club will return to its original name, the Lexington Legends.

“This is an exciting time for all of us. We are here now to bring baseball in Lexington back to the glory days,” said Alan Stein, partner and former president of Lexington Professional Baseball. “We know that this is a community asset and it belongs to you.”

There’s also some new faces being added to the club, including new manager Gregg Zaun, who played 16 seasons in the major leagues, and pitching coach Arthur Rhodes.

The announcement is a welcome one from the public’s perspective after the 2023 season. Let’s recap how we got here:

  • March 2023 | New team name + mascot revealed
  • April 2023 | Counter Clocks unveil stadium upgrades
  • July 2023 | LEXtoday City Editors added to the team as starting pitchers (wink, wink)
  • September 2023 | Counter Clocks end their season with a 49-75 record
  • January 2024 | Temerity Baseball announced as new owner of the team
  • February 2024 | The Legends are back, baby

“The future is promising and bright and I’m excited for what’s to come,” said team president Justin Ferrarella.

We’ll see you at the ballpark for opening day on Thursday, April 25.
