What do yoga under the stars, animal encounters, and science experiments have in common? They’re all part of The Living Arts & Science Center’s lineup of fall events.
The LASC’s Fun-Stitute is the place where learning and fun for all abilities + ages (yes, you adults, too) meet. Here are a few of our top picks that will get your brain thinking and creativity flowing:
🔬 Seedlings in STEAM
It’s never too early to foster an interest in science. From a close-up look at the bugs living around The LASC to learning how birds construct their nests, this eight-week program is perfect for kiddos (ages 3-5) who love nature. Explore the full program lineup before registering your child.
🎨 Teen Art Lab
This afterschool series of classes, held on Tuesday evenings 5:30-7:30 p.m., provides middle school art-lovers a safe space to meet like-minded people, try new things, and potentially discover new hobbies and interests. Each meeting is a stand-alone class, and students may register for as many classes as they’d like (pre-registration is required).
The first and fourth Saturdays of each month are reserved for adults. Kiddos are invited to attend with a family member on the second Saturday of each month. Space is extremely limited for this class so make sure to secure your spot in advance.

Movin’ on up: Lexington Sporting Club climbs the ranks

Just two seasons after kicking on to the local sports scene, the Lexington Sporting Club is already climbing up in the leagues. This week, the team announced that it would be joining the USL Championship for the 2025 season — aka the only Division II league recognized by the US Soccer Federation.
So what does that mean? The USL Championship league sits just under Major League Soccer and features soccer clubs from all over the country, including our neighbors at LouCity Football Club.
Starting in 2025, the team will already be settled into the new $80 million soccer stadium off Athens Boonesboro Road, which can seat 7,500 fans when it opens this September. According to the press release, the stadium helped elevate Lexington SC to this new league.
The stadium’s first game will be played by the women’s USL Super League on Saturday, Sept. 8, while the men’s Division III USL League One will play for the first time on Saturday, Sept. 14. Tickets are available.

This best-selling stainless steel 7-in-1 Instant Pot. It’s a classic for a reason — and you can use this versatile, customizable kitchen appliance to pressure cook, slow cook, sauté, steam and warm up your meals with easy dishwasher-safe clean up.
I’ll be honest — while I’m not a massive sports fan (to the surprise of many, I assume), I can’t wait to catch a game at the new soccer stadium. Plus, you know we love a good rivalry here in LEX, so let’s get ready to rumble LOU.
