Plan Ziggy’s adventures in honor of National Dog Day

Hey, y’all — City Editor Molly here. Can you believe we are coming up on three years of LEXtoday? Shortly after I started here, I also got my best fur friend, Ziggy, who you have seen featured throughout our newsletters.

Lexington may not have landed on Forbes’ list of best US cities for dogs, but we beg to differ. There are lots of places around the city that will welcome your furry friend with open paws.

I need your help deciding to take Ziggy to celebrate National Dog Day around town using some spots we’ve narrowed chosen from our dog-friendly guide.

The best way to start the day is with coffee — or in this case, a pup cup. Where should Ziggy + I get coffee?
  • A Cup of Common Wealth
  • High on Art & Coffee
  • Kenwick Table
  • Leestown Coffee House Drive-thru
A dog’s best day isn’t complete without a walkie and some fresh air. Which park should Ziggy + I go for a walk in?
  • The Arboretum
  • Hisle Farm Park
  • Masterson Station
  • Woodland Park

One of Ziggy’s favorite things is attention. Which shop should we visit for all the pets and browsing?
  • J&H Outdoors
  • Mulberry & Lime
  • Poppy & Pomelo
  • Scout Antiques & Modern
A post-shopping beverage is a must. Where should Ziggy + I grab a drink?
  • Burl Brew
  • Harkness Edwards Vineyards
  • Mirror Twin Brewing
  • Wise Bird Cider Co.
Of course, we have to end the day with a dinner date. Where should Ziggy + I get some grub?
  • Boonedogs
  • County Club
  • Kentucky Native Cafe
  • The Sage Rabbit

Last week, we asked you how you would like us to cover our local sports teams in our newsletter. Here’s what we found:
  • 37% said game dates + score recaps
  • 35% said a little bit of everything
  • 15% said human interest pieces on players + coaches
  • 13% get their sports news elsewhere
  • 0% were interested in Q&As with players + coaches
We value your feedback and appreciate y’all taking the time to inform our content. We’ll be sure to continue including game dates in our Events section + scores in our News Notes section. We’ll also plan to continue our season previews like we have for the Lexington Legends, Keeneland, and Lexington Sporting Club.

We’d also love to know where you get your sports news. Is it the team at KSR? A local TV station or newspaper? Let us know.

From the editor
I’m still thinking about the Root Beer Float Cold Brew that Leestown Coffee House brought to the Cold Brew Coffee Festival this weekend. If you are too, how can petition to put it in on the menu forever?
