It’s safe to say that the Horse Capital of the World experienced a seismic shift when former UK men’s basketball coach John Calipari resigned. But getting to celebrate the way he changed UK’s program, and arguably all of college basketball, was bittersweet.
Reflecting on the sounds of downtown
Some of my favorite pieces come from simple observations, like wondering why there are sounds of babbling water in the middle of downtown. Speaking with Dr. Megan Murph, I got to learn about the sound installation and how it represents Lexington.

State
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced that in 2025, vision tests will be required for all residents renewing their license. Kentuckians will have two options — receive a free vision screening at any KYTC Driver Licensing Regional Office or a KYTC-credentialed medical professional. (LEX18)

UK inducted six former Wildcats into its Athletics Hall of Fame this weekend. The 2024 class included recognizable names like track and field Olympians Jasmine Camacho-Quinn + Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone,and basketball’s Jodie Meeks. The class was presented at half time of UK’s loss/win over Ohio University. (UK Athletics)
