Whether you’re living a gluten-free lifestyle or are besties with someone who is, finding a restaurant to accommodate your needs can be stickier than the gluten protein itself. We’re here to help take the stress out of planning —and off your tummies — by rounding up Lexington’s best places to eat gluten-free.
Archa Nine
This Thai food fan-favorite has a huge selection of curries + noodles — most of which can be modified to be gluten-free. Looking for a sweet treat? We’re nuts over its coconut ice cream.
Beau’s Cafe
For brunch, we love the gluten-free avocado toast + French omelette, but don’t sleep on its salads and sandwiches with gluten-free bread. Bonus: The fryers are drained for evening service, so indulge in the French fries + a burger with a gluten-free bun.
At Athenian Grill you can get the gyro as a bowl or opt for tasty sides like lemon potatoes and a Greek salad. | Photo by LEXtoday
Athenian Grill
At this Greek food spot, you can get a gyro as a bowl. Plus, its sides are so good, they make a whole meal themselves.
Blue Door Smokehouse
Everything at this Warehouse Block spot is up for grabs, minus the bread. Skip the slice and dig into plates like sliced beef brisket, pulled pork or chicken, plus sides including slaw, salad, and beans.
Papi’s
They have a dedicated fryer for gluten-free items — Papi himself has a gluten sensitivity — so go ahead, eat the whole basket of chips. Pro tip: Ask for the gluten-free churros — chef’s kiss.
The Press has a delicious menu of salads, wraps, and smoothies. | @thepressjuicebar
The Press
One of our favorite places to work outside, it offers smoothies, acai bowls, and customizable salads.
The Wok
About 90% of the menu at this local spot is gluten-free. It might not be actually noted, so if you have questions, just ask the staff. If you’ve been missing egg rolls — The Wok is here to fill that void.

Here’s how you can help make Lexington more accessible
Presented by a LEXtoday Partner
According to Federal Highway Administration data, roughly one third of Kentuckians do not have access to driving as a regular means of transportation. | Photo provided by LFUCG
Happening Monday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Oct. 6, this initiative invites participants to engage in alternative travel methods such as biking, walking, or public transit, helping them to better understand the challenges that non-drivers face daily.
By identifying barriers and gaps in our transportation system, Week Without Driving helps inspire impactful city improvements (think: prioritizing public transportation, bike infrastructure, and more efficient roads).
When you’re stepping out to grab lunch at Stella’s Kentucky Deli next week, keep these questions in mind:
How do non-drivers in our community get around?
What challenges do they face?
Does our transportation system allow them to easily access the things they need?
Thanks to an $850,000 federal grant from the Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services, Lexington will now have a Community Crisis Co-Response Team. The team will consist of a full-time mental health professional + police officers with specialized training who will assist first responders with mental health-related calls.
In an effort to improve communication, safety, and transparency throughout the Fayette County Public School system + community, the district has created a new safety tracker. The online hub provides summaries of situations regarding school safety and emergency procedures like threats, lock downs, evacuations, and more.
