Heads up, Lexington: Next week is Week Without Driving, which was created to encourage the community to support well-informed infrastructure funding and transportation policies that support the needs of all Lexingtonians.

Happening Monday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Oct. 6, this initiative invites participants to engage in alternative travel methods such as biking, walking, or public transit, helping them to better understand the challenges that non-drivers face daily.

By identifying barriers and gaps in our transportation system, Week Without Driving helps inspire impactful city improvements (think: prioritizing public transportation, bike infrastructure, and more efficient roads).

When you’re stepping out to grab lunch at Stella’s Kentucky Deli next week, keep these questions in mind:

  • How do non-drivers in our community get around?
  • What challenges do they face?
  • Does our transportation system allow them to easily access the things they need?

Interested in participating? Get in on the action (and download the Transit app to help plan your route). Prepare to shift into gear
