In Lexington, there are 70 boards + commissions focused on parks, the airport, sister cities + more. Today, we’re sharing 10 of them that either have vacancies or terms ending soon, so keep scrolling to find a spot that might interest you.
How to get involved
To be considered, you must first fill out an application. Click here to be placed on the vacancy notification list. Note: Some board vacancies are centered around specific neighborhood residents or career fields.
Georgetown was named Kentucky’s biggest boomtown by Go Banking Rates and ranked 16th nationally. The town saw a 43.57% increase in per capita income over eight years. Toyota is featured in our top industries and employers guide, among other major players.
Cause
The League of Women Voters and the Lexington History Museum are launching “Stand with Her Story,” a program celebrating the contributions of women in the community. All nominations will be preserved in a digital archive and displayed on a permanent kiosk, scheduled for installation by March. (WKYT)

Mower and trimmer damage is a top cause of tree loss in Lexington, harming bark and nutrient flow. According to a release from the City of Lexington’s Tree Board, it is their recommendation to use expandable, ventilated trunk protectors — affordable, easy to install, and breathable — to prevent rot and save trees.
