The sun is setting earlier + the temperatures are dropping — winter is coming, y’all. But before you decide to hibernate#LEXGetMoving. We found three themed races coming up that might just be the motivation you need. But if not, Lexington-based race management company RaceRise is here to help with their “First Race Free” program.
Founder + Director Bob Baney said that it’s an honor system, but if you’ve never run a race — just email him the race of your choice + he’ll get you signed up. “All it takes is making the commitment to get started and you’ll feel the strength, spirit, and enthusiasm of the community. You might even find a new passion,” said Bob.

And while some people might cringe at the thought of running on Thanksgiving morning — we’re ready to turkey trot our way through the holidays.

Thoroughbred Classic 5K | Thurs., Nov. 25 | 9 a.m. | Keeneland | $30 | Get the family out for a little friendly competition before gathering in gratitude around the table. Multiple local charities will benefit from entry fees.

Santa Shuffle 5K & Kids Elf Dash | Sat., Dec. 4 | 3 p.m. | Downtown Versailles | $30 | Kids run for free + prizes are given for most festive runners. The race ends just in time for the Versailles Christmas parade and benefits Cops for Kids Inc.

Frozen Rails 5K & 10K | Sat., Jan. 1 | 2 p.m. | Midway | $30 | With an afternoon start you can still sleep off your New Year’s celebration. There’s also a one-mile fun run option with proceeds benefiting the Midway Ministerial Association.

Waiting for that New Year’s Resolution? RaceRise will be kicking off their Frosty Feet Winter Challenge starting January 1, 2022. Keep an eye out for more details 👀
