Southland Park gets major updates

Late last week, Mayor Linda Gorton and city officials cut the ribbon on a new nature-themed playground at Southland Park, located near Hill N Dale Road + Clays Mill Road in the Southland neighborhood.

This new playground equipment replaces equipment that was ~25 years old + coincides with the park’s new renovations — all of which we told you about back in August:

  • A new walking path
  • New decorative landscaping
  • The addition of stormwater basins to prevent flooding in the Southland neighborhood

If you’re looking to explore this newly revamped park, we suggest snagging lunch from the deli at Critchfield Meats Family Market + heading to the spruced up shelter house for a picnic.

Try this: You can snag a three-piece fried chicken box lunch with two sides + a roll for $9.49. Walk off your lunch by exploring the park’s new walking path, located right by the shelter house.
