If you haven’t already heard, snow is in the forecast for today with temperatures dropping well below freezing. That’s right — we are in the throes of winter.

And while this kind of weather does make it tempting to hibernate until spring which is 73 days from now — we want to encourage you to continue to get out + explore our awesome city. You can’t live in your stretchy pants all winter, after all.

That’s why we’re listing off five different unique indoor activities that you can enjoy during the chilly months.

Planetarium Shows | The Living Arts & Science Center, 362 N. Martin Luther King Blvd.

The William Stamps Farish Fund planetarium offers 20+ show titles that cover a broad range of cool scientific topics — the basics of astronomy, a history of space exploration + dinosaurs, just to name a few.

Distillery Tours | James E. Pepper Distillery, 1228 Manchester St.

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail isn’t just for tourists + you don’t even have to leave Lexington to tour this distillery. Learn the history of the Pepper Brand, stroll through the working distillery, and receive a tasting on this guided tour.

Pottery Classes | Artworks at Carver School, 522 Patterson St.

Work with clay to learn the basics of handbuilding + wheel techniques. All materials are provided to help you build pinch pots, bowls, mugs, and boxes.

Gallery Viewings | UK Art Museum, 405 Rose St.

Get inspired + escape the cold while viewing the exhibits at the UK Art Museum. The gallery has ~5,000 objects on display and admission is always free.
