The band

When small-town bands start to make big-city sounds — they tend to opt for bigger cities to pursue their craft (we see you, Nashville 👋). But that’s not the case for a local Lexington band called Magnolia Boulevard.

Since releasing their EP — “New Illusion” — in the summer of 2020, the band has racked up some pretty impressive accolades. They have more than 50,000+ plays from listeners in 61 different countries, toured across the US + their guitarist has been featured in Guitar Player Magazine as an influential blues guitar player.

The sound

This bluesy folk band is standing out in a sea of bluegrass. Maggie Noelle’s vocals are as deep + vibrant as the Virginia holler she was raised in, while Greg Erwin’s guitar riffs can melt a room like warm bourbon over cold ice.

The venue

What’s most exciting of all — The band is playing a hometown show tonight at The Burl. Tickets are $16 + music starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are available online or at the door.

Try before you buy

Listen | “Ride” is the first single that Magnolia Boulevard released for their EP. It’s a great example of Maggie’s soulful vocals perfectly layering overtop Greg’s smooth guitar riffs.

Watch | The band released a music video for a previously released single titled “Sister” that you can watch on Youtube. Portions of the video were filmed in Lexington, and you can spot some recognizable local establishments + areas of downtown.
