After painting the town and seeing success following its launch in last May of 2022, the Art on the Town program is returning for its third year this March.

Through the initiative, the city provides free mobile art carts for local artists to display, demonstrate, and sell their work. Think: live watercolor + oil paintings, pottery, basket weaving, and more.

There are eight carts available that can be set up along Vine Street along Town Branch Commons , as well as at various downtown events including the Farmers Market + Thursday Night Live.

During the 2023 season, 41 artists participated in the program at 64 local events.

Kentucky artists interested in applying can reserve their spot by emailing Heather Lyons , Lexington Director of Arts and Cultural Affairs. Once approved, artists are required to attend one of these upcoming Artist Orientation Sessions.
