Did you know there’s horses hiding in downtown Lexington?

The new interactive public art experience uses hidden horse statues to shine a light on Lexington’s equine legacy.

Would you believe us if we told you there are horses hiding around downtown? While they’re not the full-size Throroughbreds you’re used to seeing at our picturesque farms, they are miniature statue versions paying homage to Lexington’s legacy in the equestrian world.

Hidden Horses is a new public art experience coming to us from a variety of local entities: LexArts, Keeneland, Maker’s Mark, VisitLex + Visit Horse Country. The installation features foals in five different poses, strategically placed across 20+ locations downtown.

“Hidden Horses is more than just a public art project; it’s a celebration of our city’s spirit. We hope this project will inspire a sense of pride and community in Lexington,” said Rebecca Sherman, a founding member of the Hidden Horses Committee.

The community is encouraged to go on a “treasure hunt” of sorts to find the Hidden Horses. If you spot one, post it on social media + connect with others using the hashtag #HiddenHorsesLexington.
