Father’s Day is just around the corner on Sunday, June 16 — and there’s no shortage of things you + the father figure in your life can experience together around town.

Pro tip: Send this article to your siblings to start the conversation. You can thank us later.

For the history buff

If your father figure is the type to start sentences with, “Back in my day...” — then this section is for you.

Venture out to Harrodsburg for Shaker Village’s Vintage Dad’s Day on Saturday, June 15. Here, you’ll take a step back in time with an 1860s era baseball game, vintage car + tractor show, and woodworking demonstrations.

For the outdoorsy type

If your father figure is still chasing the adrenaline of yesteryear, sign them up for a ziplining adventure at Boone Creek Outdoors. From Friday, June 14 to Sunday, June 16, dads can zipline over Boone Creek for free with the purchase of one ticket.

If they prefer a more leisure outdoor experience, opt for one of these 10 hiking trails. Or catch a (modern) baseball game as the Lexington Legends take on the Gastonia Honey Hunters on Sunday, June 16 at 2 p.m.

For the thirsty dad

If your father figure wants to wet their whistle, thank goodness we’re in bourbon country. Try out a beer and bourbon food pairing at Lyndon House Bed + Breakfast on Sunday, June 16, where local beverages will pair with summer-centric bites, like grilled herb-marinated steak.

Want a more laid back atmosphere? Download the Brewgrass Trail passport and let Dad choose from the 26 breweries + cideries Lexington has to offer or take them to a bourbon tasting at spots like Justins’ House of Bourbon.
