See the stars in a different light at 3 planetariums near Lexington

There’s nothing quite like taking a moment to bask in the vastness + glow of a night sky. But sometimes elements like the weather get in the way.

Luckily, you can take your stargazing adventure indoors with these three area planetariums.

Farish Planetarium, 362 N. Martin Luther King Blvd.

This is Lexington’s only public planetarium + is located inside the Living Arts & Science Center (LASC). Shows cost $5 and cover topics like space exploration, astronomy, and dinosaurs. Fun fact: LASC also has a mobile planetarium that can travel to you.

Berea College Planetarium, 271 North Main St., Berea

The 35-ft dome, housed in Berea College’s Science Building, will begin public showings during the school year on Fridays at 7 p.m. + Sundays at 4 p.m.

Hummel Planetarium, 4440 Kit Carson Dr., Richmond

Eastern Kentucky University’s planetarium has been closed since 2020 and plans to remain so while it seeks funding for repairs + technology updates.
