Late last week, a new public art display was unveiled on Roosevelt Island in New York City. “The Girl Puzzle Monument ” is a tribute to Nellie Bly — a highly regarded 19th century female investigative reporter.
What does this have to do with us locally? Well, the creator of this new work of art is a Lexington-based art + design firm — Prometheus Art

Amanda Matthews + Brad Connell are the CEO and COO of Prometheus Art. Amanda studied at UofL and in Paris while Brad studied at UK and taught there for 8 years.
In 2009, they opened their design/build firm in a beautifully-restored horse barn here in Lexington. Both are accomplished, award-winning designers and sculptors with collections on display in North America, Europe + the Middle East.
You’ve probably already seen their work around Lexington, and you just don’t know it.

Unlearn Fear and Hate | Downtown Lexington, 201 W. Short St.
Designed by Transylvania University Professors, Prometheus Art fabricated + installed this massive 1.5 ton hanging wall-mounted sculpture.
Fayette County Courthouse Restoration | Downtown Lexington, 215 W. Main St.
In 2017, Prometheus worked to restore, repair + install the historic rotunda railings and clock faces inside the former downtown courthouse.
Sensory Garden | Wellington Park, 565 Wellington Way
Prometheus is working on a series of interactive sculptures for a sensory garden at Wellington Park. Currently in phase two of six, the garden features sculptures of native flora, fauna + fungi designed to stimulate each of the five basic senses.
Covid-19 Memorial | Frankfort, Kentucky Capitol grounds
Amanda’s design was chosen by Gov. Andy Beshear for the COVID-19 memorial . This project is just now getting started + we will keep you updated on project developments.
