Ghost kitchens — no this isn’t a spooky campfire story.
Ghost kitchens are restaurants that prepare + sell food but operate with no waiters, no dining room, and no public space.
That’s right — you can’t go to them, but you can order from them using apps like Grubhub and DoorDash.
But why operate like this?
Ghost kitchens allow local chefs to create and serve delicious food without the costly overhead that comes with owning + operating a brick-and-mortar restaurant.
Chef Jon Bush, the owner of a local ghost kitchen called Baby Face Grub, had this to say — ”Shared kitchens are the future. We want to change how people view restaurants and the idea of eating out completely.”
