Our local Y has been empowering our community since 1853. | Photo by YMCA of Central Kentucky
You may know the YMCA for all things gym and swim — or for a certain very catchy song. But did you know it’s also a charitable organization dedicated to improving our community’s mental and physical health?
Every year, the YMCA of Central Kentucky provides $500,000+ in scholarships to help remove financial barriers, creating equitable opportunities and access for all. With the support of donors, the Y can continue to be a vital resource where people from all walks of life come together to learn, grow, and thrive.
You’re invited to be a part of this important work by contributing to the 2024 Impact Campaign: Community Starts Here. Every giftmakes a difference and is awarded to YMCA members and program participants to strengthen individuals and families + help build a healthier, more inclusive, and more connected community.

Vote in LEXtoday’s pizza bracket
Our emerging champion is Joe Bologna’s. | Graphic by 6AM City + Photo courtesy of @joe_bolognas_restaurant
Joe Bologna’s was voted best pizza shop in Lexington by our readers and social media followers in our LEXtoday pizza bracket.
Joe Bologna’s has been an institution in Lexington for 50+ years, serving up Sicilian-style pies and big-as-your-face breadsticks. While most come for the decadent bites, its interior inside of a former church and synagogue really make for a truly unique experience.
We want to extend a major “thank you” to all of you for participating in our bracket challenge the past few weeks. We’ve had a blast seeing how the votes shook out, and we hope you did too. Looking for more pizza shops around town? Check out our guide.
