Lexington to play host to 5 major sporting events this year

From basketballers to tennis pros, athletes will converge on the Horse Capital of the World to compete with the best of the best.

While we don’t know where our beloved Wildcats will land in the post-season play, if you love basketball, you’re really going to love being in Lexington this year. Rupp Arena will play host to the first and second rounds of the tourney.

That’s not the only big sporting event coming to town, we’ve also got horses, rifles, and more.

  • NCAA Rifle National Championships | Friday, March 14-Saturday, March 15 | Times vary | Historic Memorial Coliseum | The Wildcats are one of the most decorated teams in NCAA history + will be facing off against Alaska and West Virginia, among others.
  • NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament | Thursday, March 20 + Saturday, March 22 | Times vary | Rupp Arena | It’s March Madness, baby. Need we say more?
  • Keeneland Spring Meet | Friday, April 4-Friday, April 25 | 11 a.m. | Keeneland | See some of the world’s fastest four-legged athletes in action at our historic racetrack.
  • The Basketball Tournament | Friday, July 18-Wednesday, July 23 | Times vary | Historic Memorial Coliseum | Lexington will once again host the Kentucky Regional of this 64-team tourney that boasts some of the most memorable former collegiate players.
  • Lexington Challenger | Dates TBD | Times vary | Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center | While the exact dates have yet to be announced, you can expect USTA Pro Circuit tennis to return to the Bluegrass later this summer.
