Lexington’s Water Week kicks off tomorrow, Sat., March 19 + is sure to make a splash on your social calendar.

Today, we’re sharing with you the seven-day lineup of knowledge-filled fun sponsored by the city of Lexington, Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute, and UK College of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

Reforest 5k | Sat., March 19 | 8 a.m. | Hisle Farm Park, 3551 Briar Hill Rd. | The Reforest 5k is not your average race. Its scenic route + post-run gift — a tree — make it a truly unique running experience.

Discovery Saturday — Water Cycle Mania | Sat., March 19 | 10 a.m.-1 p.m. | Living Arts & Science Center, 362 N. Martin Luther King Blvd. | Celebrate female scientists + learn how they are testing wastewater and streams for viruses.

Creek & Critters at Belleau Woods | Sun., March 20 | 3-4:30 p.m. | Belleau Woods Park, 3770 Forest Green Dr. | Join the Hickman Creek Conservancy to discover macroinvertebrates, such as worms + snails, in the Hickman Creek.

Wolf Run Stream Walk | Sun., March 20 | 1-2:30 p.m. | UK Arboretum, 500 Alumni Dr. | Take a walk through the headwaters of the Wolf Run Watershed on UK’s South Campus to learn about + discuss how urbanization impacts stormwater.

Town Branch Clean-up | Sun., March 20 | 12-5 p.m. | Wise Bird Cider, 1170 Manchester St. | Grab your boots and your bestie + head down to the Distillery District for some “treasure-hunting” along the banks of the Town Branch.

Pro tip: All Lexington Public Library branches will have a kids’ Grab ‘n Go Water Craft available during Water Week.

Monday, March 21

Green Acres Talk & Walk | 6-7 p.m. | Green Acres Park, 1560 La Salle Rd. | Learn how the city of Lexington has partnered with EcoGro to address flood prevention and vegetative sustainability of the stream corridor in the Green Acres + Hollow Creek neighborhoods.

West Sixth Suds & Science | 7-8 p.m. | West Sixth Brewery, 501 W 6th St. | This monthly series that pairs learning, critical thinking + beer, invites the community to chat with leading scientific experts from the central Kentucky region.

Tuesday, March 22

Plogging with the Run/Walk Club | 5:30-7 p.m. | West Sixth Brewery, 501 W 6th St. | Work on your fitness and clean up the neighborhood in this organized trash pick-up event. Supplies will be provided along with a drawing for prizes for all participants.

Wednesday, March 23

Mulch Madness | 12-2 p.m. | William T. Young Library, 401 Hilltop Ave. | Learn skills to use in your own yard as you help beautify + protect the trees on UK’s campus.

Water Week Trivia Night | 7-9 p.m. | Pivot Brewing, 1400 Delaware Ave. | Test your environmental knowledge with themed trivia brought to you by Blue Greensource + Live Green Lex.

Golden Hour Hike | 6-8 p.m. | Floracliff Nature Sanctuary, 8000 Elk Lick Falls Rd. | Soak in the evening sunset as it grazes across the palisades on a 1.5 mile guided hike through Floracliff Nature Sanctuary.
