Local businesses helping to support hurricane relief efforts

As nearby states are assessing damage done by Hurricane Helene, local businesses and organizations are hosting drives + donating a portion of sales to support relief efforts.

In true Lexington fashion, local businesses are coming together to offer support for those affected by Hurricane Helene’s path as it’s caused historical destruction across the Southeast. Here are 10 ways for you to help other communities here at home.

Appalachian Regional Healthcare | Drop off donations like jugs of water, baby formula, canned food + cleaning supplies on weekdays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 11.

Minton’s 760 | The NoLi restaurant will be collecting financial donations, via a jar at the register or Venmo, to support smaller eastern Tennessee towns like Mountain City.

Lussi Brown | This downtown coffee shop + bar is donating 10% of sales today to Mutual Aid Disaster Relief.

M+H Beads | Look good + do good. Owner and jewelery designer Sarah Miller is donating 50% of each order placed now through Monday, Oct. 7 to relief efforts.

New Frontier | The Morehead-based clothing brand is donating 100% of proceeds its ‘Appalachia Strong’ collection to help those in need in Eastern Tennessee + Western North Carolina.

Blue Stallion Brewing Co. | Throughout October, the brewery will feature a guest tap from Asheville’s vibrant brewery scene. The Pouring for Neighbors initiative will see $1 from each beer sold going to The North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund.

F45 Lexington | The gym will be collecting supplies through Thursday, Oct. 10 to be delivered to Asheville on Friday, Oct. 11. Here are the items they are collecting: Water, protein bars + snacks, formula, diapers, wipes, peanut butter, bread, peanut butter crackers, and gas cans.

Ethereal Brewing | All three locations of the brewery locations will be collecting items to support fellow brewers in Asheville through Monday, Oct. 7. You can bring: Cleaning supplies, blankets, towels, non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, new clothing, flashlights, batteries + more.

Jack Brown’s | From Friday, Oct. 4 to Sunday, Oct. 6, the burger joint will donate $1 from every draft beer sold, as well as 10% of sales each day, to World Central Kitchen.

McCleod’s Coffee House | The Southland Drive coffee shop is collecting donations for God’s Warehouse in Morristown, TN through Tuesday, Oct. 8. There’s a box outside where you can leave: Tools, house cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products, individually-wrapped snacks, and non-perishable food items.

  • You can donate money to help pay for supplies to the American Red Cross — give $10 by texting HELENE to 90999.
  • The United Way has created a special Helene Recovery donation page.
  • The Salvation Army is providing up to 1,500 meals a day to victims of the Hurricane. Donate to the Relief Fund.
  • GoFundMe has created a direct Hurricane Relief Fund to allow users to donate without worrying about scams on the site.
