Lexingtonians know that fall isn’t complete without a weekend retreat to Red River Gorge, followed by a post-hike slice from Miguel’s.

But with so many options for trails + toppings in close proximity to Lexington, we thought it would be fun to explore the slices less traveled.

Grab your hiking boots + appetites — these 3 hiking and pizza adventures are about to steal a pizza your heart.

Lexington

McConnell Springs + Goodfella’s Pizzeria
Okay — Goodfella’s certainly isn’t a local secret + McConnell Springs isn’t exactly off the beaten path. But when was the last time you paired them together?

This combo allows you to get out in nature, enjoy a slice of the best pie in town + be home in time to catch the Cats on TV. Sounds like a Sunday funday to us.

Berea

The Pinnacles of Berea + Apollo Pizza

The Pinnacles of Berea are one of the best hiking destinations in central Kentucky. The trails are family-friendly + offer endless vistas of cliff-lined Kentucky farmland. Peak views are found here — where the Bluegrass meets the mountains.

Pair a hike at the pinnacles with Apollo Pizza in downtown Berea. After a day of hiking, its classic wooden bar with 12+ taps + the smell of pizza will welcome you with open arms.

Morehead

Cave Run Lake + Pasquales Pizza

Cave Run Lake offers miles of lakeside hiking trails with picturesque views of eastern Kentucky’s Appalachian foothills.

A short drive from the lake — right in downtown Morehead — is a local hidden gem called Pasquales Pizza. The pizza sauce here is uniquely sweet, almost like it has a hint of fruit.

Pair your Cave Run Lake hike with Pasquales Pizza + pints from Sawstone Brewing Co. in downtown Morehead for an Instagram-worthy day trip.
