March 18 is Global Recycling Day. This year, Lexington has the inside track for residents who want to contribute to a greener planet by embracing composting, a powerful one-two punch of sustainability designed to reduce waste + enrich soil. Think: Someday your trash could be a tree.

Enter the Lexington Composter Sale, a city initiative offering affordable composting materials to Lexingtonians. The sale offers kitchen composters, outdoor bins, aerators + more to start your organic recycling journey. Pro tip: Orders must be made by Saturday, April 5 at 11:59 p.m.

Fayette County residents who completed a composting workshop will enjoy a $50 coupon code to spend in the online store. While some smaller items will ship directly to residents, most of the composting equipment will need to be picked up at the Electronics Recycling Center on Saturday, May 3 or Saturday, May 10.

Is your interest in compost growing? Watch a free recording of a recent composting workshop from the city + get in on the Fayette County Extension Office’s training and workshops.

Bonus: Check out Treehouse Composting for residential + small biz compost pick-up.
