Meet the private dining club coming to North Broadway

When you hear the phrase “dining club,” the first words that come to mind might be “exclusive” or “invite-only.” However, part of the ownership group of cocktail bar Creaux are working on what is expected to be a fresh take on the concept.
TheMelroy is expected to open this summer at 144 N. Broadway. Notably, it wants to offer a private, yet social setting that varies from other invite-only, membership-based clubs (think: the Apiary). Instead, the space aims to be a more diverse “city club” according to Ieasha Allen, co-owner of the building.
“Lexington is growing, there are so many transplants, we need something entertainment-wise that wasn’t just dinner and a movie. All the nightclubs were still young, we need that third space,” Allen told the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Here’s what you can expect from the space:
Limited to 1,000 members plus their guests
Geared towards professionals 35+
City club + dining on the first floor
Short-term rentals on the third + fourth floors
A 4,300-sqft rooftop bar (expected to open next year)
Membership applications are expected to be available this month ahead of its slated June opening.
“The membership base will be made up of adult-professionals over 35 looking for curated entertainment options, gathering space to hold progressive conversations, and to connect through shared-experiences,” Allen continued. “Our members [will] include locals who are passionate, talented, worldly, kind, and genuinely interested in others.”

Development
An 800-sqft dynamic content board could be coming to downtown. This addition, part of the $300 million renovation to Central Bank Center, would add signage that promotes events and upgrade the exterior shell of Rupp Arena. The Lexington Board of Adjustments plans to make a decision on March 11. (WKYT)

Following years of delays, a massive art project on the corner of Limestone and Fourth Streets is finally coming to fruition.
LexArts and the Lexington Freedom Train Memorial committee announced that after nearly 100 global submissions, they have identified four potential artists to design an art installation that memorializes abolitionists Lewis and Harriet Hayden.
The Haydens, who escaped enslavement in Kentucky via the Underground Railroad, later became leaders in the anti-slavery movement. Fun fact: Lewis would later become the first Black man elected to the Massachusetts legislature.
The community is invited to meet the nationally recognized artists who will present their ideas on Wednesday, March 13 at 6 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center.
A comfy fit to curl up in while it’s still sweatshirt and hoodie season. We love: this pink + lime crop by East of These and this Blue Ridge Parkway sweatshirt from Burlaep.
My husband took me to a late Valentine’s Day dinner at Omakase Sushi & Sake Bar. The food and vibe was mind-blowing and the best sashimi I’ve had in Lexington...butas a self-proclaimed klutz, I couldn’t help but feel like I fit in better at Charlie Brown’s across the street.
