Here are three things to note about this year’s upcoming season:
1) There’s a local Wildcat on the team.
- Brennan Canada is a 6-ft 5-in senior forward from Mt. Sterling, KY.
- Quote: “He’s the kind of kid that can play four different positions,” said Coach Cal.
- Need to know: This is Brennan’s last season. Look for him to make his mark down the stretch.
2) Eastern Kentucky’s resiliency is inspiring.
- Coach Cal’s first comments were about this coal miner from Eastern Kentucky .
- Quote: "[Miners] they go down together and they come up together. They hold each other accountable. That’s written on my team’s wall now,” said Coach Cal.
3) Shooting + defense
- Look for CJ Frederick + Antonio Reeves to bring more perimeter shooting this year, something — some say — was missing from last year’s team.
- Quote: “Legally, I have to play five players — that’s it. These young guys, if they don’t play defense, they don’t play,” said Coach Cal.
