Tomorrow, Sat., Jan. 29, is Baba Yaga day in Lexington — a once-a-year event where Lexingtonians + beer nerds party down at Ethereal Brewing Company to celebrate the release of the brewery’s highly coveted Russian Imperial Stout beer.

That’s right — Baba Yaga is a beer.

It’s true that breweries across Lexington release new beers each week. But rarely does a beer get released that draws a crowd of ~60-70 people starting at 7 a.m.

The hype

Baba Yaga is a big + bold beer that truly is worth celebrating. It clocks in at ~14% alcohol + was aged in bourbon barrels from Four Roses.

But this Distillery District party celebrates more than the release of a single beer. It’s a toast to collaboration + innovation between two of Kentucky’s premiere spirits — craft beer + bourbon.

Kentucky is one of the few places in the world where you can find both award-winning bourbon + beer. And when a product gets released that showcases the best of both beverages, we think that’s worth celebrating too.

The party

Each of the four different flavor variations of Baba Yaga go on sale at 11 a.m. The bottles are 375mL + cost $12 each.

Flavors include:

  • Original
  • Candy Bar
  • Bananas Foster
  • Mexican

Pro tip: Want to try Baba Yaga, but don’t want to wait in line? The brewery will have three flavors on tap all day while supplies last:

  • Double coconut chocolate chip
  • Baklababa
  • Chocolate Orange
